CLA Security

Countryside Lake Association contracts with Sentinel AI Group for security patrol of Association property.

What CLA Security does:

  • Patrols the streets throughout the Association.
  • Patrols the Common Areas, including the beach, the tennis courts, and the docks.

Under the Rules and Regulations, CLA Security is also authorized to:

  • Verify that vehicles in the CLA Common Areas display a current member Sticker or Guest Pass, and that non-members are accompanied by a member (Sections II and III.A).
  • Close the beach and order all persons from the water due to adverse or threatening weather, overcrowding, or other reasons (Section VIII.A.5).

Patrol coverage varies and is not published.

What CLA Security does not do:

  • CLA Security is not law enforcement and has no arrest authority.
  • CLA Security does not respond to medical emergencies. Call 911.
  • CLA Security does not patrol private residences or private property.
  • Patrolling a street is not the same as having authority over it.

The neighborhood is also patrolled by the Lake County Sheriff, who has full police authority throughout the Association.

For crimes in progress, medical emergencies, or fire, call 911. CLA Security supplements local law enforcement — it does not replace it.

Beach & Swimming

The beach and all Common Areas close at 10 PM each evening.

A lifeguard is on duty Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the same hours on holidays. There is no lifeguard on duty at any other time. The beach is open outside these hours, and swimming is permitted, but no lifeguard is present.

All persons shall use the beach and swimming area at their own risk.

Please also note:

  • Children under 10 may swim only when accompanied by an adult at least 17 years of age.
  • The lifeguard's primary duty is safeguarding lives in the water. The lifeguard will not provide childcare or personal assistance.
  • The lifeguard and/or CLA Security may close the beach and order all persons from the water due to adverse or threatening weather, overcrowding, or other reasons. Please comply immediately.
  • Fishing is not permitted within 25 feet of the swimming area, including the mooring docks near the beach. Lost hooks and lures are a hazard to swimmers.
  • No glass containers or glass bottles of any kind on the sand beach or surrounding areas.

Severe Weather & Lightning

Countryside Lake Association does not operate a lightning detection or warning system. There is no horn, siren, or alert that will tell you a storm is approaching. Monitoring weather conditions is your own responsibility.

The lake, the beach, the docks, and the tennis court are all open, exposed locations. Open water and the metal-fenced tennis enclosure are among the most hazardous places to be during a thunderstorm.

Follow the 30-30 rule, as recommended by the National Weather Service:

  • If you see lightning and hear thunder within 30 seconds, the storm is close enough to be dangerous. Leave the water and get to a substantial building or a hard-topped vehicle immediately.
  • Wait 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder before returning.

There is no safe place outdoors during a thunderstorm. A picnic shelter, a boat, a dock, and a tennis court are not shelter. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck.

Please check the forecast before you go out on the lake, and watch the sky. Storms in this area can develop faster than they appear to.

You may also want a weather alert app on your phone. WeatherBug, among others, provides alerts about approaching storm systems, which gives you warning before you can see the weather changing.

Boating

Members may launch at their own risk (Rules and Regulations, Section IV.C).

  • Only boats owned by a member in good standing are permitted on the lake. Guest boats of any type are not permitted.
  • Boats must display current Countryside Lake stickers showing the CLA registration number.
  • Boats with a motor, and sailboats over 12 feet in length, must also display current Illinois DNR decals and registration numbers.
  • To request boat Stickers, or a replacement for one that is missing or has faded, email info@countrysidelake.org.
  • All boats must be operated in a safe and responsible manner. Illinois law applies to all members and guests.
  • Boats may not be beached or operated in the swimming or sand beach areas.
  • The two docks flanking the sand beach are for temporary loading and unloading only. Exercise caution near the swimming area.
  • Motor limits apply by boat type and are set to protect the lake bottom and shoreline. See the Rules and Regulations.

Illinois law governs life jacket requirements. Please carry a properly fitted personal flotation device for every person aboard.

Ice

The Association does not test, monitor, or certify ice conditions at any time. Ice thickness on Countryside Lake varies and is never uniform.

Members, their family members and guests traversing on the ice is AT THEIR OWN RISK and subject to DNR requirements.

Rules and Regulations, Section III.B.1.a

Guests must be accompanied by a member. Automobiles, motorhomes, and travel trailers are not allowed on the ice under any circumstances.

Restricted Areas

Entering the fenced dam and spillway area is prohibited to all persons, except as authorized by the Association for necessary maintenance. (Rules and Regulations, Section XXII.)

Cameras

Cameras have been installed on Association Common Areas, and activity is recorded. (Rules and Regulations, Section VIII.C.4.)

Guests & Access

Countryside Lake is private property. Association facilities are for members and their accompanied guests.

  • Guest Passes are issued to members by the Association. Use of CLA facilities by a non-member without a Guest Pass is prohibited.
  • Guest vehicles must display the Guest Pass face up on the dashboard. Member vehicles must display a current CLA Sticker on the lower-left corner of the driver's-side windshield.
  • Vehicles in the CLA Common Areas without a Sticker or Guest Pass are subject to towing at the owner's expense.
  • Guests must be accompanied by the member while fishing, boating, and on the ice.
  • To request a Sticker or Guest Pass, or a replacement for one that is missing or has faded, email info@countrysidelake.org.
